Case Study
Garage Door Design Center

Goal
Give consumers and dealers the ability to visualize Wayne-Dalton Garage Doors on an actual home.

Marketing Strategy
Create a robust online tool that provides the desired functionality today and the flexibility to evolve and grow as needs change. Program is also used as a standalone component for dealers to use in their showrooms and during presentations with customers.

Technology Integration
It is apparent, rather quickly, that this program offers many features for the user and for Wayne-Dalton. Including the latest updates, a dealer or homeowner can upload a picture of a home to the site and “drop in” a Wayne-Dalton door to visualize how a particular door might look on the home. This takes a lot of fear and guess-work out of the process and leads to a strong brand preference for Wayne-Dalton. Other features of the program include eye-dropper color selection (match you door color to your siding, trim, etc.), “which door is right for me” – a guide to choosing the right door, print, zoom, etc.

Design Effectiveness
Like many projects, design plays the important role of helping the viewer navigate. This keeps the experience enjoyable and helps the user follow the proper steps in the proper order. Additional design considerations include selecting fonts and colors that appeal to the target audience, ensuring that the door configuration images are the focal point and guiding users to all features of the program.
